Places To Go:

A number of relaxing walking and cycling routes can be found within the vale of Belvoir. Two long distance paths also pass through the area, the 'Viking Way' and the 'Jubilee Way'. One can walk, cycle or hack on these picturesque byways. The Nottingham to Grantham canal built in the 1790s also passes through the heart of the vale linking many of the red brick and pantile villages. The recently upgraded towpath makes for easy walking or cycling.

2 minutes drive from Eaton brings you to the majestic Belvoir Castle situated on the Belvoir escarpment overlooking the rolling Leicestershire countryside. The castle was the home of the Duke of Rutland and his family. The castle and grounds are open to the public during the summer months and it is well worth taking the time to explore.

Less than 40 minutes drive from Eaton via the market towns of Melton Mowbray and Oakham, can be found Rutland Water, Europe's largest man made lake. A cycle / walking track encircles the entire lake with cycle hire facilities at two of the many car parks dotted along the shoreline. Other recreational pastimes catered for here include sailing, windsurfing, fishing, bird watching and rock climbing.
